Welcome!
Zip Files over Email
ITS blocks zip files via the RIT Email systems. That means if you want to send a zip file to someone on campus that is not using a Saunders COB account, you will need to follow these instructions otherwise the recipient will not receive the email.
Start by creating the zip file. To do this, highlight the files you want to zip up and then right-click on them.Select Add to Zip.

Enter a file name you want to use for the zip file and then click Add.

The zip file will be created and then displayed. Once finished, close the zip file.

Back in your window explorer, click on Folder Options under the Tools menu.

Make sure that Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked under the View tab and then click OK.

Right-click on the newly created zip file and select Rename. You may be prompted that the page has an unspecified potential security risk. This is okay in this situation. Click Yes to continue.

Add _rit to the end of the filename and then press Enter.

When prompted about changing the file extension, click Yes. The file will be renamed and is now ready to be sent via the RIT Email system. The recipient will need to remove the _rit from the filename in order to open the zip file.
