Hiding and showing file extensions
By default, Windows is configured to hide file extensions. If you wish to see the file extensions, or hide them if they are shown, start by opening My Computer and clicking on Folder Options under the Tools menu.
Click on the View tab and scroll down until you find the checkbox for Hide extensions for known file types.
If you want to see the file extensions, uncheck the box and if you want to hide them, check the box.
Once you have set the setting you want, click OK and that's it.
