Changing your screen resolution

To change your screen's resolution, start by entering the Control Panel located in your Start Menu.

If you are in the Category View, double-click on Appearance and Themes.
If you are in the Classic View, double-click on the Display icon and skip the next step.

Double-click on the Display icon.

A new window called Display Properties will open. Select the Settings tab along the top. Down at the bottom, you will have a slider under the Screen Resolution area. Use this slider to set the resolution you would like to use.

For those users with 15 inch monitors, the highest you will probably be able to go is 1024 by 768. This is also the recommended resolution for laptops as that is the resolution that works best with projectors.

For those users with 17 inch monitors, the highest you will probably be able to go is 1280 by 1024. This is the recommneded resolution for your monitor. Certainly, if the informaiton on the screen is too small, you can set the resolution back down to 1024 by 768. If your monitor displays a message about running in a different resolution for better performance, you can ignore it.
