Welcome!
Microsoft Windows Defender
Microsoft Windows Defender is tool used for keeping your system free of Spyware and Malware.

If you would like to initiate a full scan, start by opening Windows Defender located in your Start Menu.

Click on Full Scan located under the Scan button.

This will run a full scan of your system for Spyware and Malware. The scan may take an hour or so depending on how many files you have on your system. You can just minimize the window and let it run in the background while you continue to work with other applications.

When your system is scanning, you will see a little castle in your system tray with a rotating green circle.

When the scan is finished, you should get a report indicating what was found if anything. If you are unsure of how to read the report, leave it on your screen and contact Tech Support for someone to stop by and review the report.

If you would like to configure Windows Defender to automatically scan your computer periodically, click on the Tools button. Then click on Options.

You can then set Windows Defender to scan your computer Daily at 10:00am if you like.
The scan type of Quick Scan only scans critical files. You may want to select Full Scan so that Windows Defender scans all of your files.
Once you have the settings you want, click Save at the bottom of the window and you're all set.

If you see an explination point on a little castle in your system tray, this means that Windows Defender hasn't scanned your system in the past 3 days. If this is the case, you should execute a manual scan of your system or setup a schedule to occur during a time that your system is normally on.
